Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to lecturer and friends. My name is Siti Hajar binti Mohamad Winn. Today, I want to talk about "The Importance of Breakfast".
I know that many of us not taking breakfast today,right ? Have you ?? There are many excuse that we created for no eating breakfast. Some of us will say we have no time for it. May be some others will say not hungry in the morning. And, for all I know, many would say eating breakfast might gain weight. Actually, eating breakfast help you reach and maintain your healthy weight. When you eat breakfast, your appetite will satisfied longer. There is also excuse that saying we don't like breakfast food. But actually, we don't need to eat traditional breakfast food for our breakfast. I mean, we can eat anything such as fruits or reheated leftover food.
For your information, by creating those excuse for not eating breakfast, you are actually missing many great benefits. This is because breakfast provides us many benefits. As for sure, by eating breakfast we are starting off our day with better nutrition. Breakfast is the first chance our body has to refuel its blood glucose level or blood sugar after 8-12 hour without meal or snack. Glucose is very important to our body because it is essential to brain. Glucose also the main source of energy to our body.
When we have enough glucose in our body, of course we will get lower chance to chronic disease. We also can increase longevity and better health, boost our energy, increase our attention span and heightens our sense of well-being.
" A good breakfast is one that provides at least one third of the day's calories".
The effects of skipped breakfast are short attention span, lack of alertness, longer reaction time, low blood sugar and lastly will decreased your work productivity.
My suggestion, eat one or two servings of fresh fruits every morning for at least three weeks. Eat as many kind as you can find. If you really don't like traditional breakfast food, then eat something you like such as cheese pizzas or orange juice. Trust me, ONCE YOU GET INTO HABIT OF EATING BREAKFAST, YOU MAY FEEL HUNGRY IN THE MORNING. Try it !
